Doug
Stevenson is a professional speaker, trainer
and speaking coach. He is the creator of The Story Theater

22, Doug hitchhiked to Hollywood to pursue his dream of
movie stardom, and acted on screen and stage in everything
from Snoopy to Shakespeare. After 13 years, he escaped
to Colorado Springs where he did what most undiscovered
actors do – he became a Realtor. Real estate led
to professional speaking where his acting skills and business
knowledge coalesced.
With
backgrounds in real estate, construction, and professional

serves over 100 clients and has doubled in size in the
past year. SmartGrowth advises investors, owners and executives
of rapidly growing firms on strategies to enhance their
company’s value. SmartGrowth’s brand promise
is that clients will make more money, work less hours
and have more fun.
The
former CEO of a rapidly growing integrated software firm,
in 1993, Pam was a finalist for the Entrepreneur of the
Year Award in the program sponsored by Inc. Magazine.
She has also worked in strategic and sales positions in
Fortune 200 and Inc. 500 companies.
In
spring 2003, Pam published her first book More Money,
Less Work, More Fun! 123 tips for smart growth in today’s
business environment, which the Denver Business Journal

Pam’s
mentoring extends as well to her volunteer work, which
is focused on raising the self-esteem of women and children.
Pam coaches girls’ softball and is certified by
Positive Coaching and the American Sports Education Program.
In
the business community, Pam is President of NAWBO-Denver
(National Association of Women Business Owners) and serves
on the national Member Services Council. In 2003, she
was named women’s business advocate for Colorado
and the Rocky Mountain Region by the U.S. Small Business
Administration. In addition, in 2000, she was named Small
Business Person of the Year by NAWBO. She has also been
active with the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, which
awarded her the Chamber Champion Award in 1998 for volunteer
efforts to assist small, growing businesses.
Pam
is a graduate of Creighton University, Omaha, NE, holding
a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and a Master of
Business Administration Degree. She is married and has
two children.

John
Fischer is a lawyer and business consultant with
more than 20 years of corporate development, transactional
and regulatory experience relating to the global telecommunications
industry. John is currently the Corporate Counsel at Qwest,
where he focuses on regulatory, transactional and commercial
matters. Prior to moving to Denver at the end of 2000,
John spent 5-1/2 years in Brussels, Belgium, serving as
Managing Partner, Telecoms of Logica Consulting, a leading
management consultancy. In that position, he managed a
broad range of telecom projects in 16 different countries.
John’s previous legal experience includes consummating
a broad range of acquisitions, joint ventures and public
and private debt and equity investments in the United
States, Europe, Latin America and Asia.
John Fischer is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Stanford
University and holds Juris Doctor and MBA degrees from
the University of California at Los Angeles.

Milstead

David
Milstead is one of two finance reporters for the
Rocky Mountain News; He focuses on banks, accounting, executive
compensation and corporate finance. He joined the News in
April 2001 from the Wall Street Journal, where he worked
from Charlotte, N.C. for the paper's Southeast Journal regional
section. Before that, he was business editor of a small
daily in his native South Carolina. He started his career
in Cincinnati, Ohio with a business journal. He is a graduate
of Oberlin College with majors in economics and political
science. Milstead is a 10-time winner or co-winner in various
Colorado statewide journalism competitions, including six
awards for coverage of Qwest. The Rocky Mountain News' Qwest
stories, authored by Jeff Smith, Lou Kilzer and Milstead,
also won two awards in last year's SABEW Best in Business
competition and are featured in Best Business Crime Writing
of the Year and Best Business Stories of the Year 2004.

Arlen
D. Meyers, MD, MBA is Professor of Otolaryngology-Head
and Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado Health Sciences
Center and Executive Director of the Colorado Alliance for
Bioengineering.
Dr. Meyers
is a graduate of Dickinson College (BS), Jefferson Medical
College (MD) and the University of Colorado (MBA). He
did his residency at the Hospital of the University of
Pennsylvania.
Dr. Meyers
is the author of over 200 articles and chapters and is
presently involved in developing several medical devices.
He is a sought after consultant to business and a member
of the Governor’s Commission on Science and Technology
and Co-Chairman of the newly formed Colorado Council on
Telehealth in the Governor’s Office of Innovation
and Technology. As the Executive Director of the Colorado
Alliance for Bioengineering, he the principal architect
of CAB programs designed to facilitate industry-academic
collaboration. He is the Director of the Combined CU MD/MBA
Program and Editor-in-Chief of eMedicine: Otolaryngology-Head

Dr. Meyers is Malcomolm Baldrige National Quality Award

Laurie
Ganong Jones is Co-founder and President of Sterling
Bio-Technologies Corporation, which holds an exclusive North
American license from Agro Management Group to manufacture
and sell bio-based engine oils. “Sterling Grade”,
the commercial brand for Agro’s technology, is a finalist
in the 2004 World’s Best Technology Showcase sponsored
by the National Association for Seed and Venture Funds and
the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer.
Ms. Jones is an appointee of Governor Owens to the Colorado
Economic Development Commission. A frequent speaker, she
was a panelist at the 2003 Governor’s Colorado Technology
Summit General Session. Ms. Jones, has 24 years of corporate,
entrepreneurial, and consulting experience with a focus
on operations, finance, and marketing specializing in the
implementation of strategic projects and commercial products.
Most recently she has been involved with startup technology
ventures. From 1992 through 2000, Ms. Jones was also instrumental
in growing and positioning Sykes Enterprises from a “nobody”
to the global leader in high-tech support services with
CRM annual revenues over $300 million. In 1990, she co-founded
Jones Technologies, Inc. which was acquired by Sykes Enterprises
in 1992. Ms. Jones was cited in 1994 by Governor Romer as
a Colorado Outstanding Citizen for extraordinary contributions
to growing a high-tech business. Married to a Dartmouth
graduate and the City of Sterling’s current Mayor;
Ms. Jones attended Dartmouth College, holds a B.A. in Economics
from the University of California - Davis, and an MBA from
Pepperdine University. |

Dr.
Louis Hornyak

Dr.
Louis Hornyak is a research scientist in the
physics department at the University of Denver. He received
his Ph.D. in materials chemistry at Colorado State University,
spent a year at the University of Essen in Germany and
was employed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory
in Golden for 5 years. He joined DU last September.
Dr.
Hornyak has been involved with nanothechnology for the
past 14 years. With a team headed by Glenn Rhoades, Dr.
Hornyak and five other team members founded the Colorado
Nanotechnology Initiative (CNTI). The purpose of this
movement is to get Colorado up to speed with respect to
the burgeoning nanotech field. Nanotech is not cheap and
he believes that Colorado has all the assets in place;
it just needs to be better organized. Dr. Hornyak also
has 12 years experience in the aerospace industry. |

Jay
Stein, managing director with Platts Research &
Consulting, leads the E Source Technology Assessment Group,
which conducts research on energy efficiency, renewable
energy, load management, and power quality technologies.
Jay is also a specialist in HVAC, high-tech industrial process
technologies, and the information technology industry. He
was the project director for the E Source Multi-Client Studies
"Delivering Energy Services to Semiconductor and Related
High-Tech Industries" and "Delivering Energy Services
to Internet Hotels and Other High-Density Electronic Loads."
Over Jay's 25-year career in the twin fields of energy efficiency
and renewable energy, he has designed utility demand-side
management programs, advanced HVAC systems, and solar thermal
collectors. He has also authored and coauthored more than
100 technical papers, magazine articles, and book chapters.
Before joining Platts, Jay was a cofounder of E-Cube Inc.,
one of the nation's leading energy consulting firms specializing
in building energy analysis and commissioning. Jay received
a BS in agricultural engineering from Rutgers University. |

Andrews joined Keating Investments as a Vice President
concentrating on distribution in early October. He also
participates in the origination of Keating’s investment
banking clients. Jeff began his career with PaineWebber,

with high-net worth individuals and institutions nationwide.
Jeff grew up outside of Bangor, Maine, and is a 1994 graduate

Tyler
Tysdal is a Managing Partner of TIVIS Ventures,
a private equity and real estate development firm located
in Denver, Colorado. Prior to Tivis Ventures, Mr. Tysdal
was the CFO of Capitis China.
Prior
to moving to Denver in 2002, Mr. Tysdal played an integral
role in helping launch the first B2B e-commerce marketplace
to go public, Chemdex. Mr. Tysdal and an investor he led
to Chemdex obtained liquidity prior to the end of the
life cycle of the $8 billion company and started making
private equity investments. Mr. Tysdal typically moved
on location as the CFO/CEO in the portfolio companies.
Mr. Tysdal was also responsible for engineering the platform
and roll-up of a $2 billion niche specialty pharmacy industry.
He was also the CEO of an edutainment retail company and
the CEO of a 30-person business development group creating
an e-commerce business-to-business marketplace in the
lumber and building materials industry for a public company
partner, Ventro.
Mr.
Tysdal also served as an investment banking financial
analyst with Alex. Brown & Sons, the nation's oldest
investment bank. In addition, he is on the Board of Trustees
of the Colorado Chapter of National Multiple Sclerosis
Society. Mr. Tysdal earned his BSBA in finance from Georgetown
University, where he was student body president and continues
as the chair of his alumni class, and holds an MBA from
Harvard Business School where he still serves as an Alumni
Fundraising Chair and co-chair of the HBS Business Forum
for the HBS Club of Colorado.
