Cara Russell - Nonprofit Executive and Consultant

Cara Russell is a nonprofit executive and consultant with a heartfelt belief in the power of one person to make a difference.

She’s found plenty of ways to put her management degree to work in the public sector. Currently employed as the director of a community-supported health clinic in rural Colorado, Cara has worked for nonprofits in the areas of education, the arts, animal welfare and historic preservation. She serves on the steering committee of her region’s Rural Philanthropy Days. She’s also worked in a prison and as mayor of a small town, and she’ll be glad to share how those experiences changed her life!

Cara believes that too many nonprofits fail to thrive because the passion of the founders, staff and boards overtakes their business sense. She became a nonprofit consultant as a way to share her energy, enthusiasm and experience to improve the sustainability of nonprofits of all sizes and stages.
