Rob Smith - Executive Director/Co-Founder Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute
Don’t hold it against him, but Rob Smith is originally from New Jersey (exit 142). Rob moved to Colorado in 1988 to attend the University of Denver and has been here ever since. Rob’s educational background is in finance, management, and information technology and prior experiences include banking, management consulting, coffee roasting, and microfinance. Rob serves on the Board of Directors at the Colorado Alliance for Microenterprise Initiatives and on the Advisory Board for the Denver Metro Small Business Development Center.
“Growing up in a small suburban town of a major city puts everything into perspective. Commerce was driven by the local entrepreneurs, from the book store on Main Street to the local butcher shop down the street. These entrepreneurs knew what community was all about and supported the needs of the families that lived there.” This is why Rob stays involved in microenterprise work; for him it’s about reconnecting our community with the talents and skills of local entrepreneurs.
