David Moll - CEO of Webroot

C. David Moll is CEO of Webroot Software, the leading provider of privacy, protection and performance software.

Moll's varied background offers a unique perspective on managing and growing an early stage software company.  From experience with major retail channels like Wal-Mart and Target, as well as leading solution providers, like EDS, he views developing and growing Webroot through a prism of both consumer and Fortune 500 enterprise technology marketing, sales and operations.  Moll began his career considerably far from the technology field, managing a lawn-care products manufacturing facility where he re-defined operations and turned the plant from marginally profitable to a leader in the company.  He followed this practical business operations experience with an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, which then led him to EDS, building on early career experience at Ernst & Young and exposing him to large-scale technology solutions.
 
As technology innovation created myriad opportunities in the late 1990s, Moll undertook a series of responsibilities with early stage technology companies.  These positions provided the next set of experiences that would ultimately define his current role at Webroot.  In a senior position at Matchlogic, an innovator in online advertising and later a division of Excite@Home, Moll gleaned the power of direct marketing over the Internet.  At DataPlay, a groundbreaking consumer tech company, he honed his ability to attract and develop strategic partnerships.  He also founded an angel fund in Boulder, CO, Infield Capital, to gain a perspective on venture funding from both sides of the transaction.
 
He became CEO of Webroot in 2002 and has since become a leading advocate for personal privacy on the Internet, leading the first national educational and marketing effort on the threat of spyware.  He is responsible for the company?s strategic direction, setting development priorities, and managing business operations.  During his tenure, the company has experienced astronomic growth at a managed pace, quadrupling in size of employees and revenue in three years.  He has stewarded the company into major retail sales channels, developed significant OEM relationships and created the company?s first enterprise division.  From a strategic perspective, he continues to examine the potential solutions to privacy issue that affect consumers and businesses in a digital society.
