Ryan McIntyre - Founder of Excite.com and Venture Capitalist with Mobius Ventures
Ryan McIntyre was one of the founders of Excite.com, working as part of the leadership team during the first six years of the company's history. He held the title of Principal Engineer and was a key technological contributor to the company's search engine and content management systems, and also led the design and implementation of Excite's community and commerce platforms.
Ryan joined Mobius Venture Capital in 2000 as an Associate Partner and was promoted to Principal in 2001.
Prior to Excite, he was a member of the technical staff for the Hewlett Packard Division at Oracle Corporation, where he worked on several releases of the Oracle Office platform. Before joining Oracle he was a software engineer at Canon Research of America, where he focused on the development of optical character recognition (OCR) algorithms.
Mr. McIntyre holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Symbolic Systems with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence from Stanford University. While at Stanford, he published research on genetic algorithms in the The First IEEE Conference on Evolutionary Computation, and studied at Stanford's overseas campus in Berlin, Germany.
Ryan is also an avid guitarist and songwriter and operates a recording studio in his home, brews his own beer, runs the occasional marathon (1996 San Francisco marathon and the 2003 Portland marathon), and most of all enjoys spending time with his wife and son.
