David McCloskey has over 20 years experience as a self-taught technologist and entrepreneur. He founded his first company in 1991 to create new Windows based cradle-to-grave processing solutions in mortgage banking and subsequently went on to develop the nation’s first wireless pricing solution in partnership with Motorola. In 1995, Mr. McCloskey joined VR-1 Entertainment as an Executive Producer and Studio Director for the company’s Toronto, Canada and St. Petersburg, Russia development studios. During his 7 years at VR-1, Mr. McCloskey managed over 100 staff spread across 5 development teams on two continents and produced as many as 7 SKUs per year for release on PS2, Xbox, PC and PC Online. Mr. McCloskey managed VR-1’s relationships with EA, Sony, Microsoft, Sony, Ubi Soft, British Telecom, France Telecom, NCsoft and PCCW in Hong Kong, Tokyo and London and was instrumental in PCCWJ’s 48 million dollar acquisition of the company in 2002.
In 2003, Mr. McCloskey left VR-1 to create WABA Fun and bring his patented construction toy concept to market. As founder, he designed and created Superstructs™, the multiple award-winning construction toy. To the basic construction toy elements, Mr. McCloskey added EVA foam panels that pop into place in between the rods and connectors. This incredibly simple innovation is now patented and offers a light-weight, safe, and durable surface that extends the play pattern of the toy’s classic design. To realize Superstructs, Mr. McCloskey performed all aspects of the product and packaging design, safety testing, production and marketing. Superstructs are now sold in specialty, education and mass market retailers in more than 50 countries.
