Learn Professional Speaking Tips and Techniques from an Industry Pro

Christie Ward is an experienced professional speaker and can tell you the ins and outs of what it takes to be one yourself.

Christie knows firsthand what motivates people to change their ways — and she knows how to restart lost momentum and help anyone muster the courage to overcome even the most daunting obstacles. She works with individuals and teams who want to learn skills that not only impact their lives, but help them influence everyone with whom they come into contact.

Christie employs accelerated learning techniques and designs curriculum that speaks to today’s adult learner. Her programs are uplifting, and always teach you something!

For seven years, she coached and managed 200 of the best professional trainers around the world for CareerTrack , Inc. She has been incredibly successful not only professionally, but personally, changing direction in her mid-40’s to lead a multi-million dollar sales team, shepherding her daughter though a bone-marrow transplant while working full time, and maintaining a 90 pound weight loss since 1985.

Christie is past president for both the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD)-Rocky Mountain Chapter, and the National Speakers Association of Colorado (NSA). She currently serves on the National Board for ASTD and is Chair of the prestigious National Advisors to Chapters of ASTD. Christie is the only person to have received “Member of the Year” three times for NSA (in 2008, 2009 and 2011) for creating the Colorado Speaker’s Academy for emerging speakers.  In 2000, she personally coached the World Champion of Public Speaking for that same year.  She hit another career milestone in 2009, earning the CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) designation, an honor bestowed upon less than 10% of the professional speakers of the national federation across the globe.

Principal of The Impact Institute

In the ‘90’s, Christie Ward coached and managed more than 200 of the best professional trainers around the world for CareerTrack , Inc., where she was director of training.  Since 1999, as an entrepreneur and principal in The Impact Institute, she has facilitated Communication topics that make the difference for performance, productive Teams, and effective Leadership. She personally coached the World Champion of Public Speaking for the year 2000!  In 2004 she won the ASTD-RMC Best Practices award for a program that lowered union grievances at AT&T in Denver 66%.   She earned her CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) designation in 2009.  This certification is held by fewer than 10% of the professional speakers worldwide.

She is Past-President of the ASTD-Rocky Mountain Chapter, where she has been a member since 1991   She became part of NAC (National Advisors for Chapters for ASTD, the American Society of Training and Development) in 2008, served 3 years and was elected NAC Chair for 2011-2012 by her peers.  She served on the National Board of directors for ASTD (2011-2012).  She is past president for NSA (National Speaker’s Association) Colorado.   She was voted member of the year 3x for NSA Colorado, 2008, 2009 and 2011. Christie regularly volunteers for the Tennyson Center for Abused Children, where she judges a speech contest, and for Goodwill, where she does mock-scholarship interviews at inner-city high schools. She is a leader on and off the platform.

The focus of the Impact Institute is to give people the skills and tools they need to be effective with each other, their managers, their subordinates, their teams and their communities.  The diverse landscape of human interaction today makes that a challenge. People are born and raised in a cultural context, and that is now complicated by a virtual context that has changed the way we communicate.  There is more stress today caused by misperception and miscommunication than ever before.  For this reason, Christie is called in to serve groups of people (teams or boards) where diversity of style and interest can get in the way of effective communication.
