What makes the Denver/Boulder Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Special?
This event is unlike any we’ve ever seen. Learn from three entrepreneurs who recently moved to this area from other cities. They will share their experiences about the entrepreneurial ecosystem of those cities and provide a contrast to that of our own.
We often hear how fortunate we are about the people, startup culture, support and entrepreneurial activity. Boulder is often mentioned as one of the best places to start a business. And Colorado is known as a fairly pro business state. Learn what it would be like to do business, create startups and compete for resources in three other cities.
Also, learn from these newbies about what they are doing to plug into the local ecosystem. Find out what you do when you are new and wish to get connected, you might learn about some things you’ve taken for granted all of this time. This will be a fun and lively topic to help build perspective.

For the past decade he has been the owner of Railroad Square Art Park - an arts & culture district and the largest private land-holding in Tallahassee, Florida's urban core. During that time he also founded multiple companies in diverse sectors such as real estate development, hospitality, entertainment, & digital software technology. His most recent entrepreneurial venture included helping found a technology business incubator SILICON TALLY in Tallahassee, the capital city of Florida. Currently he divides his time between being a technology & innovation consultant for business owners and developing his latest startup venture, YpickMe, a web application which makes resumes interactive and multimedia-enhanced. His passions include world culture (Adam has lived in Beijing, Nice, Paris, & Miami), traveling (over 40 countries and counting), learning foreign languages (French & Mandarin Chinese), and theater (has performed directly “Off-Broadway” in NYC).

SPEAKER: Alison Lawrence
Manager for the US division of Pagebuilds
Alison Lawrence is the Manager for the US division of Pagebuilds, a Dutch online technology provider. She has an MBA in International Business and a Bachelor's degree in English and Business. Having lived, studied, and worked in the US, England, and the Netherlands, Alison has experienced first hand how cultural differences can impact social and business relationships.
Having recently returned to Denver after 5 years of living in the Netherlands, Alison is enthusiastic to be back in her native state of Colorado. She will be sharing her experiences in venturing into the entrepreneurial environment within the Netherlands, as well as sharing her observations on her emigration experiences of returning to the US. Being a bit of a 'newbie' in both entrepreneurial ecosystems, Alison has been able to experience both settings with fresh eyes, enthusiasm, and the occasional faux pas. Throughout it all she has been carried along by her favorite quote by Louisa May Alcott, “I do not fear the storm, for I am learning how to sail my ship.”

SPEAKER: Michael Potts
Chief Learning officer at Startup guru
Michael Potts' international entrepreneurship journey began in Boulder (which he misses dearly) and has him currently stationed in the busy city of Boston. Michae has lived in 5 different countries, and started business in 3 of them. He has lived in 5 different states and started business in 3 of them. With a technical and business background Michael now focuses on the people space and is always excited about connecting with entrepreneurs.
Having spent many years in B2B, B2C activities he is now focused on pioneering the fast evolving E2E (Entrepreneur to Entrepreneur) space. Experienced at implementing 'lean technologies' with companies like Toyota and then migrating those technologies to more traditional companies like Harley Davidson, the new Lean startup initiatives are exciting for him to watch.
Michael finds helping others flex their entrepreneurial mindsets and work in their Entrepreneurial Zone of Genius (EZOG) in Boston a daily challenge, but fun.

HOST: Brian Tsuchiya
Founder of Startup Guru
Brian Tsuchiya is an authority on crowdfunding, after spending the last 8 years researching a variety of methods he has unique experiences with crowds. Including having a company entirely funded with "sweat equity" from over one hundred people. Managing that many shareholders is unique for a privately held startup. Brian also has raised over $2M of private equity.
Brian is the founder of StartUp Guru and started his entrepreneurial journey 18 years ago and has since launched ten startups. Startup Guru is the culmination of this extraordinary journey. He has openly shared for the first 40 years of his life he primarily served himself and lived a life without purpose. Then in June of 2006 he read a book that would change his life forever. He embarked on a journey that connected his life purpose with his entrepreneurial career. Through this work he understood his patterns and defined his life in a way that revealed his purpose. Forged in him was the way of the entrepreneur.
