Esteemed Luminaries Serve As Judges for Colorado Inventor Showcase
Nearly 60 Front Range Celebrity Judges Will Review Inventors
Louisville, Colorado – October 12, 2009– Over 40 inventors exhibiting at the Colorado Inventor Showcase on November 3, 2009 will have exposure to more than 60 celebrity judges from venture capital, the media, high profile businesses and product scouts. The inventors will be judged on their innovation and value of their creations to society. An awards ceremony will cap off the evening.
“We have the great pleasure of hosting a spectacular judging lineup of luminaries from a wide range of disciplines to meet our inventors and evaluate their unique products and technologies,” said Thomas Frey, Executive Director of the DaVinci Institute. “Their votes will determine winners in several categories including software, commercial and consumer products as well as Colorado Inventor of the Year. Inventors and attendees alike have the distinct opportunity to network with the judges throughout the day.”

• Perry Evans: Founder of MapQuest
Perry Evans has been around the new media business since the formative days of CD-ROM titles and Apple Newtons. He has had the good fortune of leading the formation, development and early stage business progress of several online media and messaging businesses, most notably MapQuest, Jabber and Local Matters. His professional interests center on local media publishing & advertising, mobile media, and key verticals such as real estate
• Mike Wash: CIO of the US Government Printing Office in Washington, DC.
Mike Wash is responsible for the strategic execution of information systems within the GPO. Mike Wash joined the agency in 2004 to build a technology management program and develop the Future Digital System (FDsys). FDsys is a digital content system which will allow federal content creators to easily post their documents in a digital format.
Mike is the former Executive Director, Product Management and Marketing at Gerber Scientific Products, and former General Manager at Eastman Kodak. He holds 18 patents including the patent that won the National Inventor of the Year Award in 1996 and the Rochester Intellectual Properties Law Association (RIPLA) annual award in 1998.
• Dave Drach: Managing Director for the Microsoft Emerging Business Team
Dave Drach works with venture capitalists and early stage start-ups helping them to develop their businesses and effectively partner with Microsoft. Dave’s previous roles include V.P. CTO of FRx Software, a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft and General Manager for Platform and Technology at Great Plains Software. Dave has participated in numerous acquisitions, and integrations, as a buyer, and as an executive in an acquired company. Dave managed enterprise level systems implementations for 3 years at Ernst & Young and built numerous, large scale, enterprise solutions over 8 years at Boeing Computer Services.
